Kelly Macdonald was born February 23, 1976, and raised in Scotland, Glasgow. She has one brother, David, and her parents divorced when she was very young. She was raised by her mother, a sales executive in the garment industry. As she grew up, she acted in an amateur theatrical club, until, while working as a barmaid, she auditioned for a part in a movie called Trainspotting. In August 2003, Macdonald married musician Dougie Payne, bassist of rock band Travis. As of now, they have two children, Freddie and Theodore.
Career[]
Kelly Macdonald got the roll of Diane in Trainspotting (1996). She was nominated for a BAFTA Scotland Award. Following the film's great success, Macdonald began finding steady work in a number of films as both a lead and supporting player. More movies soon followed, including Gosford Park (2001). She won an Emmy Award in 2005 for the TV movie The Girl in the Cafe. In 2010, Macdonald began her run on the critically acclaimed TV series Boardwalk Empire. She also voiced the title character in the 2012 animated film Brave, and and appeared as Helena Ravenclaw in the wildly popular Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 (2011). Over all she has played 27 roles in movies and T.V. shows.
